A pause to contemplate the #Journey2Justice

This documentary features young, outspoken Asian American activists of NAKASEC on a 1,700-mile immigrant rights campaign on bicycles, offering an intimate look at the heritage, history, and political awareness that drives them. These emerging, outspoken young activist leaders challenge the “model minority” myth and the overshadowing of undocumented Asian Americans in the national immigration movement.
Delving into their formative childhood experiences, we discover the moments and realizations that bond them with their parents and siblings in the generational struggle against exclusion and poverty. Rather than proclaiming their innocence as children brought to the U.S. by their parents, they are pushing the national conversation beyond DACA, demanding a path to citizenship for all out-of-status immigrants.
Life or Liberty amplifies the voices of Asian Americans in a time of crucial organizing around immigrants rights With #Citizenship4All the Dream Riders are expanding the moral equation beyond DACA, an important progression that needs to be heard as much as #AbolishICE.

Beyond DACA

Alice, Dream Rider

Alice, a rider whose immigration status has at the moment derailed her own dreams, refuses to hold up DACA as an ultimate goal because it excludes people like her mom, who brought her and her sister to the U.S. for a chance at opportunities not available in Korea.

Birdie, Dream Rider

Birdie, a DACA recipient, recently graduated from Harvard, but faces an uncertain future. Riding with other young immigrants with mixed status has deepened her conviction that more Asian Americans should join the struggle for the rights of immigrant families.
